Licensing Information for Intune
- You’ll need licenses for a SKU that includes Intune for MDM. This includes Microsoft 365 (Business Premium|E3|E5) and Enterprise Mobility + Security (E3|E5).
- Licenses come in two forms, User licenses and Device licenses.
- [Zip Console Supported] User licenses are fully featured and allow each user to enroll up to 15 devices in MDM
- [Not Supported] Device licenses forfeit some advanced features and require one for each enrolled device, and are not valid for user-driven enrollment
The Zip Console requires User Licenses for user driven enrollment for best user attribution and to support conditional access policies
- Licenses can be purchased one of two ways:
- With help from Zip as your MSP Microsoft organization
- Directly purchased by you, at https://admin.microsoft.com/AdminPortal/Home#/catalog
License Assignment
Once you’ve purchased licenses, you’re ready to set up the Zip Console and start enrolling devices! After you’ve connected Entra to the Zip Console, we recommend assigning the licenses to accounts through the console. All Entra accounts that will be used to enroll a Windows device should be assigned licenses. See the documentation here for details.
